Which Red Light Panel Size Do I Need?

Last updated

Choose the size by how much of your body you want to light in one position. A desk panel (about 35 cm) suits a desk or bedside, a half-body panel (about 90–100 cm tall) lights your upper or lower body at a time, and a full-height panel (about 150 cm or more) lights most of an adult's height at once.

Choose by room

Your space Fits best
Desk, small flat, shared room Desk (34.5 × 23 cm, 4.3 kg)
Bedroom or home office with a door or wall hook Half (97.5 cm tall, 12.2 kg)
A free wall or door, a home gym corner, a spare room Full (153 cm tall, 25.1 kg)

The Full needs a door, wall or ceiling fixing rated for 25.1 kg. A standard interior door (about 200–210 cm) leaves room above the panel for hooks.

Choose by your height

A panel lights roughly its own height in front of it, a little more as you step back. As a rough guide for an adult standing in front:

Your height Half (97.5 cm) lights about Full (153 cm) lights about
160 cm 61% of your height 96% of your height
175 cm 56% 87%
190 cm 51% 81%

Percentages = panel height ÷ your height, rounded. They ignore spread at distance, so treat them as a minimum.

90 cm vs 150 cm: the short answer

A 90 cm class panel (our Half is 97.5 cm tall) lights half your body at a time and costs less: €899 vs €1,390, 12.2 kg vs 25.1 kg. A 150 cm class panel (our Full is 153 cm tall) lights most of your body at once, so a session takes one position instead of two. If you will use both halves of your body in most sessions, the Full saves you time; if you mainly want one area, the Half is enough.

Long version: 90 cm vs 150 cm red light panel.

Questions

What size red light panel do I need for full body?
A full-height panel of about 150 cm or more lights most of an adult's body at once. The Rubrawell Full is 153 cm tall. A half-body panel can also cover the whole body if you do two positions.

For one area at a time, yes. A 90 cm class panel such as the Rubrawell Half (97.5 cm tall) lights roughly half of an adult's height in one position.
Can I use the Desk panel for my whole body?
No. The Desk is 34.5 × 23 cm and lights a small area at close range. It suits a desk, bedside or shelf.
Does "90 cm" mean the distance from the panel?
No. On our pages, 97.5 cm and 153 cm are panel heights. Use distance is a separate figure in the manual.
How heavy are the panels?
Desk 4.3 kg, Half 12.2 kg, Full 25.1 kg (manufacturer data). Check that your door, wall or stand can hold the weight.
